Overview

Jhpiego creates and delivers transformative health care solutions that save lives. In partnership with national governments, health experts and local communities, Jhpiego builds health providers’ skills and develops systems that save lives now and guarantee healthier futures for women and their families.  

Jhpiego works in over 35 countries. Jhpiego is sourcing a Consultant to help it develop a consulting arm for its existing work in public health projects (e.g., maternal health, newborn health, child health, nutrition, malaria, HIV, immunizations, global health security, etc.  

This is expected to be a 12 week assignment with the following objectives and scope.

Objectives

  • Define a market-ready, right-sized consulting offer aligned to Jhpiego’s mission.
  • Stand up minimum viable go-to-market (GTM), operating model, and materials to launch within 12 weeks.
  • Equip internal team with a 90-day post-launch plan and basic BD enablement.

Scope and Activities

  • Week 0–2: Inception and rapid discovery
    • 90 min kickoff to confirm scope, success criteria, timeline, decision gates.
    • Review Jhpiego capacity statements, key informant interviews, workplan and hold up to 10 internal stakeholder interviews focused on offering definition and fast validation.

  • Week 3-5: Service package definition and pricing
    • Define 4–6 core offerings with crisp problem statements, use cases, and outcomes.
    • Draft differentiators and example deliverables.
    • Propose delivery model for small, medium, and complex engagements (roles mix, QA).
    • Meet with operations/finance team to outline a pricing approach and draft rate card (indicative bands, fixed-fee/time and materials options).
    • Decision Gate 1: Approve the service package and pricing approach.

  • Week 6-7: Define the Operational Model
    • Define minimal core processes:
      • Intake/qualification
      • Proposal/SOW development
      • Contracting basics and risk checks
      • Delivery and QA checkpoints
      • Light impact reporting and invoicing handoff
    • Propose ideal operational model to implement consulting services and outline minimum requirements
    • Decision Gate 2: Approve proposed operational model
  • Week 8: Launch plan
    • Update the launch workplan into a time-bound action plan with owners and dependencies.
    • 90-day KPI set and a simple dashboard spec (pipeline, conversion, utilization, margin proxy, client satisfaction).
    • Decision Gate 3: approve the launch plan
  • Week 9-11: Materials toolkit (starter set)
    • Core assets (final templates ready for adaptation):
      • 1–2 page brief on offerings and capacity
      • 6–8 slide core deck (org creds, offer catalog, case snapshots, engagement models)
      • Proposal/SOW template with pricing guidance
      • Delivery quality checklist and risk register template (light)
    • One 60-min orientation webinar for internal stakeholders; recording + slides provided.
  • Week 12: GTM plan and handover
    • Target segments and positioning/messaging (1 page)
    • 60-day outreach calendar (cadence, channel, owners)
    • Sample target account list (10–20 accounts) and first-touch messaging snippets
    • Website/LinkedIn update recommendations (bulleted, implementable)
    • Decision Gate 4: go-to-market readiness sign-off
    • Handover session and next-steps memo

Deliverables and Acceptance Criteria

  • Service Package Definition Brief (approved at Gate 1)
    • 4–6 offerings with descriptions, client value, example deliverables, differentiators
    • Light pricing approach and draft rate card
  • Lean Operating Model
    • Delivery model outline
    • Process maps
    • Minimal systems enablement recommendation
  • Launch Plan (approved at Gate 2)
    • Action plan with tasks, owners, dependencies, and decision points
  • Consulting Materials Starter Kit (approved at Gate 3)
    • Brief and slide deck on offerings and capacity (editable)
    • Service catalog one-pager (editable)
    • Proposal/SOW template with pricing guidance
    • Recording and slides from the orientation webinar
  • Near-term Marketing Plan (approved at Gate 4)
    • Target segments and positioning
    • Sample target account list (10–20) and outreach snippets
    • Web/social update recommendations

Level of Effort (indicative for one senior consultant)

  • Total: ~40-60 days over 12 weeks
    • Inception/discovery: 10-15  days
    • Service package and pricing: 20-25 days
    • Operating model and launch plan: 5-10 days
    • Materials toolkit: 5-10 days
    • GTM plan + enablement + handover: 2–3 days

Meetings/Cadence

  • Weekly 45-minute steering check-in (12 total)
  • 2 working sessions/workshops (Offerings; Operating model)
  • 1 orientation webinar (recorded)
  • Decision Gate 1 (end of Week 5) and Gate 2 (end of Week 7) Gate 3 (end of Week 8) Gate 4 (end of Week 11)

Required Qualifications

We are seeking consultants that have the following qualifications:

  • 10+ years launching or running consulting/professional services in NGOs/global health/social impact, including pricing and GTM
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Familiarity with technical approaches and project indicators
  • Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Strong facilitation and materials development portfolio
