Specific job responsibilities of our Dental Hygienists include, but are not limited to:

• Provide a full range of dental hygiene services, including cleanings (prophylaxis), scaling and root planing, and the application of fluoride and sealants
• Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession
• Evaluate each patient’s oral health to determine and select the appropriate tools, materials, and techniques for their hygiene visit
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, plaque control, and post-treatment care to support long-term oral health
• Accurately document medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment details in patient records
• Preparation of treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use
• Break down and disinfect operatories post-treatment, returning instruments promptly for sterilization
• Capture diagnostic x-rays (as needed) in line with ADA recommendations and clinical protocols

• Exceptional customer service skills with a warm, empathetic, and energetic approach to patient care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow clinical protocols and office policies consistently
• Possess a professional and positive attitude
• Associate’s degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
• Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the state of Connecticut
• Active Professional Liability Insurance
• Active Basic Life Support Certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
