 JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Financial Associate 2 provides revenue cycle support to the UT Health Science Center Pediatric Dentistry Clinics at Dunn and LeBonheur. This position interacts with faculty, residents, patients, and fellow staff to clarify billing code and payment processes. This position coordinates the scheduling of cases in the operating room and through medical anesthesia services. 



Responsibilities
  1. Calculates patient responsibility and communicates with patient (parent); performs cashiering functions, prepares, and issues receipts.
  2. Monitor accounts with credit balances biweekly – audit chart for financial accuracy, initiate refund request or initiate corrections on account for missing charges.
  3. Generates and sends monthly statements of patient balances; audits each account for accuracy prior to mailing.
  4. Assists with the preparation of financial statements, production reports, and uncharged note reports; monitors and balances accounts and researches and resolves discrepancies.
  5. Coordinates patient scheduling for OR cases and anesthesiologist scheduling for IV sedation and mobile anesthesia cases.
  6. Performs daily audit of patients from the previous day; corrects and rebills as needed.
  7. Check out patients and communicate clinical procedures, treatment plan, and payment information.
  8. Identifies and reports deviations in record keeping and risk management.
  9. Run weekly, monthly, and yearly production/collection reports for the Chair and propose solutions
  10. Performs other duties as necessary.

 



Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

 EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) 

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in a medical or dental office with responsibility for scheduling and managing patient accounts; OR Associate’s Degree in lieu of experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of standard office functions, accounting recordkeeping, electronic spreadsheets, and computer operation. 
  • Knowledge of financial policies and procedures. 
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to compare information and recognize discrepancies. 
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in-person and in writing.
