The Advanced, MST II is responsible for assisting the provider and staff in clinical and administrative functions to provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the provision of patient care services and patient safety
Performs technical skills per standards as assigned/delegated such as lab tests ordered by the provider
Proactively participates in implementing patient care
Schedules patients for treatments, procedures, and/or tests per standards
Follows safety rules in all areas of patient care and ensures safe patient environment
Maintains patient data and records
Performs additional specialized job duties as specified by unit/department
Obtains vitals, chief complaint, and current history for each patient and prepares them for exam
Assists provider during minor procedures as requested
Communicates patient and family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider
Reports significant events and information timely to appropriate team members
Assists with planning by sharing input from patient and family with appropriate team members
Answers telephone and messages appropriately and timely delivering information to appropriate team members
Maintains supplies and equipment of the assigned area
Ensures all patient care and unit equipment are in proper working order
Maintains adequate inventory of supplies
Facilitates maintenance of specialty equipment
Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes, and customer satisfaction
Provides assistance to team members as requested or required
Participates on committees/councils and performance improvement activities as requested/required including unit meetings and education
Regular and timely attendance is required for this job
Successful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirements
Practices within legal, ethical, and professional boundaries
Maintains expertise in the area

Qualifications
Education:
High School or GED
Experience:
1 Β year as a multi-skilled technician, nursing assistant, or similar role
Skills:
Effective oral and written communication skills
Skilled in basic MST job duties
Proficiency in computer operations and keyboarding
