We are excited to invite an experienced, dedicated, and knowledgeable Contract Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients. Position Details:  

Enjoy a flexible long-term contract with opportunities for extension  

Pharmacy Hours: M-F 8am -5pm, no weekends, no Holidays  

Must be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy program/school  

A pharmacy license within the United States is required  

Previous contract experience is a plus  

Experience at an IHS facility is advantageous  

A minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience is required  

Ability to work with any state license

Must be willing and able to pass federal security clearance pre-hire  


Duties:  

Review and interpret physician orders to ensure appropriate medication therapy  

Accurately dispense medications and provide clear, compassionate instructions to patients regarding their use  

Conduct thorough patient assessments to monitor medication efficacy and safety  

Manage inventory levels of pharmaceuticals, ensuring proper storage and handling practices  

Deliver expert consultations on pain management strategies and medication-related concerns  

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and pharmacy software systems  

Adhere to aseptic techniques when preparing sterile medications  

Collaborate with healthcare teams in hospital settings, including pediatrics, to deliver exceptional patient care  


Skills:  

Strong background in clinical pharmacy practices  

Proficient in utilizing pharmacy software for effective medication management and documentation  

Knowledgeable in pain management protocols and patient assessment techniques  

Familiarity with inventory management processes to maintain sufficient stock levels of medications  

Understanding of medical terminology relevant to pharmaceutical care  

Experience working in hospital environments, particularly in pediatrics, is a significant advantage  

Excellent interpersonal skills for fostering effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals

  Requirements

  • Be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy program/school
  • Previous contract experience a plus
  • Previous IHS facility experience helpful
  • Hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Have a Pharmacist degree from a school of pharmacy approved by a      state-accrediting agency
  • Possess a current, active, unrestricted license from any of the 50 United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia. 
  • Maintain continuing education/certification
  • Must be a US citizen, living primarily in the United States
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification 
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacist within the past 36 months, 
  • Must meet all credentialing and background investigation requirements.
