PHARMACY TECHNICIAN ASSIGNMENT SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician at Kheir Clinic plays a critical role in ensuring that patients receive appropriate and effective healthcare services within the Pharmacy of our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This Pharmacy Technician will assist and support the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication as well as provide excellent customer service to patients in a clinic retail pharmacy location.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have an active and good standing Pharmacy Technician License in the State of CA
  • Bilingual Fluent Spanish and/or Korean *REQUIRED
  • Love Working with People & in Retail with Cheerful/Positive Attitude
  • Minimum 1 year Pharmacy experience (preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year Customer Service experience (preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree or higher preferred
  • Proficient in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong typing and data entry skills
  • Must have a positive attitude, be energetic and flexible, have excellent phone etiquette, and provide exceptional customer service

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of 340B pharmacy preferred
  • Digital Rx software experience *HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Brand/Generics Drug Knowledge
  • Insurance Billing/Math and Typing/Computer Skills
  • Medi-Cal/Insurance Understanding
  • Day Supply Calculation Math Knowledge

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Remove drug(s) from stock; count, pour, or mix pharmaceuticals
  • Place the product into a container
  • Affix the label or labels to the container
  • Package/repackage as needed
  • Type prescription label(s) or enter prescription information into a computer record system
  • Verify/re-verify insurance benefits
  • Process RTS medications
  • File invoices
  • Order medication and process returns through wholesaler portal
  • Receive and stock medication on drug shelf
  • Send refill requests
  • Process returns and refunds
  • Reconstitute medication for dispensing
  • Troubleshoot claim rejections
  • Interact courteously with patients and team members to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships
  • Answer incoming and make outbound calls to patients, case managers, providers, insurance companies, etc.
  • Handle payment transactions at Point of Service (POS) and reconcile beginning and end-of-day transactions
  • Coordinate prescription deliveries
  • Proactively identify and analyze problems and provide effective solutions
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
