Work Schedule:

The working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for a total of 40 hours per week.

There are no weekends, No Holidays, and No On-Call Requirements! 

Requirements


  • Degree: Master’s degree, Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review  Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). 
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). In addition to the education requirements listed in the DHA-PM for PAs, specialty PAs must complete residency or fellowship training of 12 months or more in a medical specialty program.
  • Experience: Minimum of 24 months of experience as a Physician Assistant, within the last 36 months.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Certification: Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Life Support: Maintain current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a security clearance. 

  

Job Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of their training and privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving any organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
  • Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic, and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions to diagnose, prescribe for, and treat diseases, disorders, and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.
  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures, and participate in in- service training to staff members.
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee-approved medications and immunizations.
  • Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to address it, including referral to a physician.
  • Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with the scope of practice.
  • Establish collaborative rapport with physicians, nurses, and others in order to promote and facilitate primary care services.
  • Teach patients and family members a healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Advises medical staff. Advises medical and dental staff on the treatment of military personnel and the preparation of patients for aeromedical evacuation. Provides medical advice and guidance to bioenvironmental engineering, military public health, physiological training, and others.
  • Provides occupational medicine support. Determines frequency and scope of occupational medicine exams required by federal regulations and workplace exposures. Conducts and supervises placement and periodic health exams for employees. Establishes procedures to identify occupational hazards, to notify appropriate agencies of occupational diseases or injuries, and to investigate job-related injuries or illnesses. 
  • The contract provider shall complete all administrative tasks associated with the clinical position in an accurate and timely manner.
