Position Overview:
Wellstar Health System is seeking a compassionate and skilled Virtual Care Psychiatrist to provide high-quality mental health services via telemedicine. This role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing psychiatric conditions for a diverse patient population in a virtual care environment. The ideal candidate is adept at leveraging technology to deliver care and thrives in a patient-centered, collaborative healthcare setting. This provider would work temporarily out of the Virtual Care Center located in Augusta. Once established, remote/hybrid option is available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct virtual psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and follow-ups for patients experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management and psychotherapy recommendations.
  • Collaborate with primary care physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Provide crisis intervention and referrals to higher levels of care as needed.
  • Stay current with advancements in psychiatry, telemedicine technology, and evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of Georgia. Board certification in Psychiatry is required.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatry (telemedicine experience preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in using telehealth platforms and EMR systems.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative virtual team environment.
