School Psychologist

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in School Psychology from an accredited program
  • Current Kansas School Psychology License 

 

REPORTS TO:  Directors and district administrators.

 

EVALUATOR:   Cooperative Administrative Team

 

JOB GOAL:  The school psychologist will serve as a member of the educational team to assist the school in providing the best educational plans and incentives to all students.

 

Consultant to General Education Intervention meetings, staffings, and multidisciplinary team evaluations:

  • General Education Intervention team meetings.
  • Oversee the multidisciplinary evaluations of referred children, obtain permission for testing, and convey to parents their rights.
  • Evaluate students, as needed for new referrals and re-evaluations.
  • Review district’s curriculum-based measures for screening of exceptional students.
  • Review with parents their rights and responsibilities in the educational system at placement.

 

Consultant/advocate/counselor:

  • Provide consultation to regular and special education teachers and administrators.
  • Assist in developing behavior management programs for students, in regular or special classes.
  • Assist in developing appropriate educational/developmental goals in special and regular education.
  • Provide consultation and behavior management planning with parents.
  • Provide counseling directly to student with special needs or problems as needed, whether in regular or special education.
  • Assist in research-based school-wide practices to promote learning for all students. 
  • Be a child/family advocate to assist in providing for each child’s educational/emotional needs.
  • Provide family-school collaboration services to help foster appropriate parent advocacy and problem solving student needs.
  • Act as a liaison between family, school, and community resources. 
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements, and promote legal, ethical, and professional practices in schools. 

Monitoring Progress:

  • Monitor procedural dates for appropriate initial evaluations and 3-year re-evaluation.
  • Coordinate team collaboration meetings for students as needed to review progress and needs.

Rreports/compliance monitoring:

  • Collaborate in the writing of initial IEPs.
  • Review IEPs and multidisciplinary evaluations for compliance and assist in facilitating legal paperwork.
  • Write professional reports and maintain psychological files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and Board of Directors.

Public awareness:

  • Be a presenter at inservice as requested by administrator.
  • Assist in informing the public about available services from special education.

 

Contract:Length of contract is 181 days.

Salary Information: Salary based on education and experience.
