The Department of Medicine, within the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS) at the University at Buffalo, seeks a dynamic physician-leader, accomplished researcher and educator, and exemplary clinician with strong business acumen to serve as Chief of Infectious Diseases. This position offers the opportunity to join a leading institution in the Department of Medicine under the new leadership of Dr. Leonard Egede, and take part in the new strategic direction being laid out for it. This leadership will play a key role in shaping the Division s future as part of a bold strategic direction. This role will lead a team of highly accomplished faculty across the Division s multiple missions clinical care, research, education, and community engagement while contributing to the Department s transformation and growth.

This Division is comprised of 16 well-credentialed faculty who provide clinical services, conduct a broad range of research, and train medical students, residents, and fellows. The Division s research is supported by extramural funding of more than $2 million annually and includes National Institute of Health, Department of Defense, and Veterans Administration funding.

The next Chief will be an accomplished physician scientist with a national reputation as a strong clinician, researcher, and leader. They will have a proven track record in securing funding for research through federal agencies and a strong understanding of how to lead and mentor a group of researchers to synergistically and collaboratively grow a portfolio of research funding by a diverse group of sources. The successful Chief will bring experience in educating and training future physicians and have the ability to lead a large, complex, collaboration-based clinical operation. We seek candidates with prior administrative and leadership experience gained within a division of infectious diseases within a well-reputed academic institution. Candidates must hold a medical doctorate degree and board certification in infectious diseases and possess qualifications for appointment at Associate Professor or higher rank at JSMBS.
