We are seeking an Epic Analyst - Inpatient Orders to support and optimize Epic's Inpatient Orders module. This role is responsible for building and maintaining provider order workflows, order sets, and decision support tools within Epic to ensure safe, efficient inpatient care delivery. The ideal candidate will be Epic-certified in Inpatient Orders (or ClinDoc/Orders), have experience working in a hospital or clinical IT environment, and strong collaboration skills to partner with providers, nurses, pharmacists, and IT staff. Key Responsibilities System Build & Configuration Design, build, and maintain Epic Inpatient Orders workflows and order sets. Support order types (medications, labs, imaging, nursing orders, diet orders, etc.). Configure clinical decision support rules, best practice advisories (BPAs), and preference lists. Partner with pharmacy, lab, radiology, and nursing to ensure accurate downstream workflow integration. Clinical Workflow Support Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to optimize ordering workflows. Ensure order sets and protocols align with evidence-based practice and organizational policies. Provide subject matter expertise on inpatient clinical workflows in Epic. Testing & Upgrades Develop and execute test plans for upgrades, patches, and new Epic releases. Participate in integrated testing (IST) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for inpatient workflows. Document build, testing, and configuration changes. Training & Support Provide Tier 2/3 support for inpatient orders-related issues. Develop training guides and tip sheets for clinicians on Epic ordering workflows. Support go-live events, upgrades, and optimization projects. Compliance & Quality Ensure inpatient order workflows comply with regulatory standards (Joint Commission, CMS, Meaningful Use, etc.). Support reporting and analytics needs related to inpatient ordering and documentation. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Informatics, or related clinical/IT field preferred. Epic Inpatient Orders certification required Additional Epic certifications (ClinDoc, Stork, Beacon, or ASAP) a plus. Experience: 2-4 years of Epic build/support experience in inpatient orders or related modules. Clinical background (RN, PharmD, or other inpatient care experience) highly desirable. Familiarity with order set design, CDS tools, and interdisciplinary workflows. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across clinical and IT teams. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a healthcare setting. Preferred Qualifications Direct inpatient care experience (nursing, pharmacy, or allied health). Experience with inpatient order workflows across multiple specialties (medicine, surgery, critical care). Knowledge of clinical decision support (BPAs, rules, alerts).
