Requirements


• Education: DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) or DMD (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry) from an

accredited dental school.

• Licensure: Current dental license (or eligibility to obtain licensure by start date) in Idaho.

• Certification: DEA license, Idaho controlled substance registration, NPI number, current BLS.

• Experience: At least 1 year of experience practicing general dentistry or 1-year GPR/AEGD,

preferred, but new graduates are also welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and Treat Oral Health Conditions: Conduct thorough dental examinations, develop

treatment plans, and provide services such as fillings, cleanings, extractions, root canals, crowns,

and dentures.

• Preventive Care: Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventative care to

reduce the risk of oral disease.

• Patient Care: Provide exceptional, patient-centered care while maintaining a compassionate and

approachable demeanor to help ease patient concerns and build trust.

• Treatment Planning: Develop customized treatment plans based on diagnostic findings,

considering patient needs, health status, and available resources.

• Collaboration with Team: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including hygienists,

assistants, administrative staff, and leadership, to ensure a seamless patient experience and

continuity of care.

• Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in

compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards. Complete documentation in a timely

manner.

• Follow-up Care: Provide appropriate follow-up care and referrals to specialists as needed.

• Community Outreach: Participate in community health initiatives and educational programs

aimed at increasing awareness of oral health in the local community as needed


Patient Management and Documentation

• Perform Key Responsibilities using a high level of skills and ability.

• Administer anesthetics and prescribe medications.

• See/treat 15 -25 patients per 10-hour clinical day, or as determined by clinic needs.

• Provide routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans, general

restorative procedures, crown and bridge, removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics,

and oral surgery or additional duties as directed by the Clinic Dental Director.

• Review medical history of patient at each visit; consult with the primary health care provider as

indicated.

• Diagnose dental disease, oral pathology, and develop a written treatment plan, prioritizing

treatments and report findings to the patient (caregiver or guardian).

• Explain the course of treatment to the patient; solicit his/her input and agreement.

• Manage difficult clients and patients, demonstrating interpersonal savvy (good listening,

showing sincerity and empathy, and being trustworthy) and foster a high level of customer

service.


Policies and Procedures

• Understand and follow infection control procedures.

• Ensure all prescriptions and advice regarding medications are in accordance with accepted

community standards and Heritage Health protocols.

• Participate in the implementation of provider productivity standards.

• Maintain familiarity of and comply with all Heritage Health policies and procedures, OSHA,

HIPAA, and state regulations.

• Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services provided consistent with Heritage

Health’s policies and procedures and the standards of the dental profession.

Support of Clinic Leadership, Teamwork, and Process Improvement

• Participate in precepting dental assisting students, dental hygiene students, and dental students

as required.

• Role models strong leadership skills and promotes teamwork.

• Direct and guide Dental Assistants (DAs) and Dental Hygienists (RDH) teams in daily patient care.

• Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and other meetings as requested.

• Participates in Quality Assurance (QA) or other committees to promote better practice within

Heritage Health.

• Actively supports decision-making of the Heritage Health leadership.

• Promote positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees.

• Communicate frequently with others in verbal and written communication.

• Assists with implementation and evaluation of operational and administrative processes, as

directed by Dental Clinic Leadership.


General

• Represent Heritage Health at conferences, meetings, and continuing education programs.

• Utilize computers for data entry and information retrieval with proficiency.

• Utilize and monitor effectiveness and efficiency of all equipment and supplies used in the

delivery of dental services.

• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Job Overview

Working Conditions: Work performed in a typical interior/dental clinic work environment in a medical

and dental clinic building. Work may be demanding and chaotic at times. May be exposed to patient

population that will present a variety of contagious diseases, physical injuries, and emotional states of

mind.


Physical/Mental Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and working on a computer.

• May lift up to 15 pounds at times.

• Must be able to access and navigate various departments of a given location.

• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy or stressful environment.

• Must be able to adhere to process protocol.
