Lead Histologist (North Central Florida)

As the Lead Histologist, you will take on a key leadership role within the histology laboratory, overseeing the daily operations of the histology team to ensure timely, high-quality preparation of tissue specimens for diagnostic evaluation. In addition to performing complex histologic procedures yourself, you will provide hands-on supervision, mentorship, and technical guidance to other histologists and lab personnel. You ll be responsible for maintaining workflow efficiency, enforcing quality and safety standards, coordinating training, and serving as a point of contact between the histology team and laboratory leadership.

• Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination by performing embedding, microtomy, staining (H&E and special stains), and coverslipping

• Maintain quality and integrity of specimens throughout the histology process

• Prepare reagents and solutions used in tissue processing and staining

• Operate and maintain histology instruments, including tissue processors, embedding centers, and microtomes

• Adhere to all safety and quality control procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards

• Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the histology workflow

• Assist with training or mentoring junior staff or students as needed

• Contribute to departmental goals related to turnaround time, quality, and efficiency
