About the RoleAs the Lead Histologist, you will take on a key leadership role within the histology laboratory, overseeing the daily operations of the histology team to ensure timely, high-quality preparation of tissue specimens for diagnostic evaluation. In addition to performing complex histologic procedures yourself, you will provide hands-on supervision, mentorship, and technical guidance to other histologists and lab personnel. You ll be responsible for maintaining workflow efficiency, enforcing quality and safety standards, coordinating training, and serving as a point of contact between the histology team and laboratory leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination by performing embedding, microtomy, staining (H&E and special stains), and coverslipping
Maintain quality and integrity of specimens throughout the histology process
Prepare reagents and solutions used in tissue processing and staining
Operate and maintain histology instruments, including tissue processors, embedding centers, and microtomes
Adhere to all safety and quality control procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards
Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the histology workflow
Assist with training or mentoring junior staff or students as needed
Contribute to departmental goals related to turnaround time, quality, and efficiency
