Neonatology Nurse Practitioner

  • D12 or 24 hours in person shifts-No Call Coverage as full shift (12 or 24 hour) is in house
  • 16 beds, but can take up to 20, average daily census is 9-11
  • 2 neonatologists and 4 mid-levels in the department
  • Implement palliative and end-of-life care through evaluation, modification, and documentation according to the patient's response to therapy, changes in condition, and therapeutic interventions to optimize patient outcomes
  • Insert and remove nasogastric tube
  • Make rounds on hospitalized patients
  • Order and initial interpretation of diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities, such as laboratory tests, medications, hemodynamic monitoring, treatments, x-ray, EKG, IV fluids and electrolytes, etc.
  • Perform short-term and indwelling urinary bladder catheterization (e.g., Robinson, coude, Foley)
  • Perform venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization.
  • REQUIREMENTS(state license, life support, DEA, etc.):PA licenseRequired, BLS, NRP Extensive Experience in Level III NICU Required
