Description Summary: A currently enrolled nursing student providing a wide variety of services to the customer under the direct supervision of Nursing. Responsibilities: Collects and documents patient data: Obtains/charts initial and routine vital signs, height, weight, and I&O's. Coordinates care activities to provide for optimal care and/or activities within assigned caseload. Provides patient care and activities appropriate to age, cultural, and religious beliefs, and any barriers to understanding. Complies with Regional departmental policies, adheres to break and lunch schedules, follows associate parking guidelines, adheres to personal business policy, and uses the time clock correctly. Communicates with other team members, seeks assistance and clarification of assignments as needed, shares input from patient/family with appropriate team member. Performs other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or requested. Please refer to the attached Addendum for the complete list of approved extern patient care interventions. Requirements: Currently enrolled in an RN degree program, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (must provide unofficial transcript). Must not be on academic probation and in good standing with the current nursing program. Must provide a letter of recommendation from a nursing instructor. Must submit a 500-word essay identifying why they chose the field of nursing and how they apply the CHRISTUS Core Values to their individual practice. Must have successfully completed both a "Fundamentals of Nursing" and at least one first-level Medical-Surgical course. AHA BLS certification required. Work Schedule: PRN Work Type: Per Diem As Needed
