Job Summary: The OR Technologist plays a crucial role in supporting surgical teams by assisting with the transportation and positioning of patients, preparing the operating room, and maintaining sterile environments during surgical procedures. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the transportation and positioning of patients. Assemble and dismantle surgical tables and instruments before and after procedures. Prepare the patient and the operating room for planned surgical procedures. Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures. Complete skin preparation and draping. Assist the surgeon with gowning and gloving. Pass instruments and sutures to the surgeon during procedures. Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sutures, and sponges. Apply dressings and bandages as needed. Identify, collect, and care for specimens. Decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established policies and procedures; handle and store instruments and supplies appropriately. Aid in the efficient turnover of the operating room for subsequent cases. Monitor and restock supplies as needed.
