As the Physician Assistant, you will act as an extension of the physician in the practice to provide a high-level of patient care. You conduct comprehensive physical examinations, evaluate laboratory results, diagnose procedures to establish a preliminary diagnosis and make recommendations to the attending Physician. In this role, you will also ensure that the patient has a complete understanding of the treatment plan being implemented.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
- Formulate treatment plans in collaboration with supervising orthopedic physicians.
- Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies (X-rays, MRI, CT, labs, etc.).
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care, education, and follow-up.
- Assist surgeons in the operating room, including first assist duties.
- Perform procedures such as joint injections, wound care, casting, splinting, and suturing.
- Manage both inpatient and outpatient orthopedic cases.
- Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in patient education, counseling, and care coordination.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of orthopedic best practices, guidelines, and standards.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Program
- NCCPA certified
- Active Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in orthopaedics, urgent care, sports medicine, or related field.
