$67.48 - $84.35POSITION SUMMARY
The Oncology Pharmacist provides optimal therapeutic medication regimens for Marshall’s Hematology/Oncology/Infusion Outpatient Clinic. This position is responsible for inspecting all patient orders for accuracy, screening patients for drug side-effects and toxicity, and to ensure patients have sufficient education regarding the medications they are receiving through the infusion center, including home infusions. In addition, this position performs chemotherapy order entry and participates in double check systems for each and every chemotherapeutic agent ordered. The Clinical Pharmacist collaborates with oncology RN’s, Oncologists and Hematologists to achieve exceptional pharmaceutical care of hematology and oncology patients. Oversees the application of pharmacy law with hospital/pharmacy/infusion policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis. This position also applies oversight for the role of the Pharmacy Technician.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Current State of California Board of Pharmacy License required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent skill in clinical activities as determined by the Pharmacy Director.
Completion of American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) Accredited Residency preferred.
Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) required, or to be obtained within five years of hire.
Knowledge:
Minimum of three years of experience in an Oncology Hospital or Outpatient Clinic setting required.
Knowledge and expertise with proper handling procedures of chemotherapy agents.
Knowledge and experience with a drug administration system such as Omni-cell.
Skills:
Ability to manage time productively for daily activities and projects.
The ability to maintain effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with current medical technology.
Comfortable with regularly verifying and processing insurance eligibility and obtaining authorization requests, including verifying personal credentials with external partners to obtain this information (e.g., ID.me for identity verification for VA insurance coordination).
