Responsibilities
- Seeking a highly motivated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team in an outpatient setting.
- The successful candidate will work collaboratively with board-certified surgeons, supporting a wide range of procedures.
- This role involves direct patient care, pre- and post-operative evaluations, minor procedures, patient education, and care coordination.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and preoperative evaluations.
- Manage post-operative care and follow-up visits, including wound care and suture/staple removal.
- Assist in minor in-office procedures and injections under the supervision of a plastic surgeon
- Document all patient interactions accurately in the EMR system.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and long-term care.
- Stay up to date with the latest advances in plastic and reconstructive surgery practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Current and unrestricted PA license in Virginia
- Certification as a Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
- Valid DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in surgical specialties preferred; new graduates with strong surgical rotations may be considered
- Strong clinical skills in wound management and surgical care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- EMR proficiency (e.g., Epic experience is a plus)
