The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital (JAHVH), a flagship VA medical center in Tampa, Florida, is actively recruiting a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Geriatrician to join our Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) Service. We re seeking a compassionate, team-oriented physician committed to delivering high-quality, Veteran-centered care across a continuum of geriatric programs.
Position Title: Physician (Geriatrics)
Location: Tampa, Florida
Service: Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC)
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (some flexibility may apply)
Type of Appointment: Permanent, Full-Time
Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Authorized
EDRP (Education Debt Reduction Program): Eligible up to $200,000 over 5 years

Position Overview: As a Geriatric Physician at JAHVH, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based care to aging Veterans through various clinical settings including:
- Community Living Center (CLC) Long-term and post-acute inpatient care
- Hospice & Palliative Care Unit End-of-life and comfort-focused care
- GERI-PACT Outpatient interdisciplinary team-based primary care
- Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) In-home medical care for homebound Veterans
You will serve as an attending physician, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and provide supervision and mentorship for trainees and mid-level providers.
Key Responsibilities: - Deliver comprehensive geriatric care across assigned units and clinics
- Collaborate with nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and therapists
- Serve as a clinical educator for residents, fellows, and students
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and GEC program development
- Share in after-hours on-call rotation (limited frequency)
Basic Requirements: - U.S. Citizenship
- MD or DO from an accredited institution
- Full, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
- Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Board Certification or Eligibility in Geriatric Medicine preferred
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred Qualifications: - Fellowship training in Geriatrics or Palliative Care
- Experience in academic/teaching environment
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Interest in quality improvement, geriatrics research, or medical education
