The Alaska Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Regional Medical Officer based at Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) in Mackenzie Point, Alaska. Open to all applicants To apply, please visit: (Please note that you must apply through the Workplace Alaska site to be considered) What You Will Be Doing: Provide direct patient care and clinical direction for the medical division at Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC- Wasilla), Palmer Correctional Center (PCC - Sutton), Fairbanks Correctional Center (FCC - Fairbanks), and Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center (YKCC - Bethel). Provide primary health care and maintain a higher acuity chronic care panel for inmates in regional correctional centers including the GCCC infirmary (highest level of care offered in the prison similar to a skilled nursing facility). Share back up call (phone only) with other state-wide physicians. Serve as a liaison with correctional facility administrators and correctional staff. Participate as part of the leadership team in the development and implementation of policies; in the authorization of outside medical services; and as a subject matter expert regarding medical-legal matters. The Working Environment You Can Expect: This position directs the provision of essential healthcare to patients at Goose Creek Correctional Center. A Correctional officer may escort the prisoner to and from care appointments and may be present during procedures depending on the inmate security classification or concern from staff. A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
