This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to work with a team of specialists to deliver compassionate, age-appropriate care to young patients facing mental health challenges. This position is being recruited and hired by Sheppard Pratt Solutions on behalf of Beverly Hospital - a Sheppard Pratt Partner. This is an On Call position covering Anna Jaques Hospital in Amesbury, MA. Backed by Sheppard Pratt - the nation's largest private, nonprofit behavioral health provider - Sheppard Pratt Solutions partners with community hospitals to expand access to high-quality mental healthcare, bringing essential services closer to those in need.
This position is being recruited and hired by Sheppard Pratt Solutions on behalf of Beverly Hospital - a Sheppard Pratt Partner. This role covers telehealth night calls and weekend and weeknights in person. Weekend coverage entails Friday (8pm) to Monday (8 am) and the weeknight shift starts 5 pm to 8 am.
Responsibilities:
- Psychiatric evaluation of Child & Adolescent patients being presented from the ED after psychiatric evaluation done by crisis team for possible and appropriate admission to the Child & Adolescent psychiatric unit at Anna Jaques Hospital. Providers must meet requirements for general Psychiatry Core Privileges
- Rounding weekends, holidays, vacation coverage. Remote coverage for weeknights, evaluation, approval and placement of admission orders for new patients.
- Admission workup, treatment planning, evaluation, diagnose, treat patients presenting with mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders (e.g., psychoses, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders)
MDs Legal Documentation:
- Sections 10/11 (conditional voluntary admission) or 12 (involuntary admission) , section 21, APRNs cannot sign these forms; MD signature is required.
- Treatment MDs must cosign treatment plans prepared by APRNs
Admissions:
- Admission workup, treatment planning, evaluation, diagnose, treat patients (adults older than 16) presenting with mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders (e.g., psychoses, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders
- Performance of history and physical exam
- Order simple diagnostic tests to include blood tests, urine tests, noninvasive x-rays
- Privileges to prescribe and order medications within the scope of licensure in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations
- For APRNs, Daily management, including writing orders, progress notes and discharge summaries (under the supervision of the Attending psychiatrist)
- EHR: EPIC. Regular complete, daily, and timely documentation is required while covering the service

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience as a Provider.

- Must have a current license to practice in Massachusetts at time of hire.
- Must be board certified or board eligible.
