About you

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment. On the General surgical/colorectal surgery ward we Provide specialised care for patients undergoing surgical and medical management of colorectal conditions, including cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, stoma care, and complex gastrointestinal disorders along with a variety of other general surgeries including weight loss surgeries, plastics and hepatobiliary. Nurses on our ward play a vital role in supporting patients through their surgical journey – from pre-operative preparation to post-operative recovery and ongoing education.

Key Responsibilities

  • management of complex surgical patients, pre and post operative
  • Ongoing patient education and support
  • assessment and escalation of the deteriorating patient
  • clear communication skills with the multidisciplinary team

What you bring 

  • AHPRA Registration
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience in an acute surgical nursing
  • Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
