Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The RN will assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, supervise nursing staff, and ensure safe, evidence-based patient care while utilizing critical thinking and clinical judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill ICU patients.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Monitor patient condition and respond appropriately to changes.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment and recovery.
- Participate in discharge planning and continuity of care.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing support staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current CPR Certification (if required by facility policy).
- Experience working in an Acute Care Hospital.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous Medical ICU (MICU) or Critical Care experience.
- Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills.
- Experience with ICU equipment including cardiac monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and EMR systems.
