RN Clinical Educator - Vascular Access Specialist - Full Time Days - Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia
The Vascular Access Specialist is a Registered Nurse with expert knowledge and skills and the ability to recommend appropriate types of vascular access devices for patients, based on knowledge of disease processes, access issues, and anticipated prescribed therapies.

Responsibilities:
Directing and coordinating Vascular Access nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards subscribed to by American Nursing Association and in accordance with the PA Nurse Practice Act and other regulatory standards.
Collaborates with other professional disciplines, such as Interventional Radiology, to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
The Vascular Access Specialist is responsible for competent use of ultrasound guided vascular access insertion; insertion, care, and maintenance of PICC and midline catheters, and implanted ports; as well as specialty-specific products in collaboration with members of the healthcare team.
Serves as an expert resource to staff for ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and management of potential catheter-related complications. In collaboration with Director of NEPD and Clinical Directors, assesses skill level of the staff and develops strategic educational plans to ensure clinical competency.
Designs, implements, and evaluates programs of care by integrating nursing interventions and medical treatments as appropriate to enhances patient outcomes in a cost-effective manner.
This position requires providing service to the following age population(s) young adults to frail elderly in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
Qualifications:
BSN required, MSN preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting required.
Ultrasound guided IV insertion and vascular access expertise preferred.
Demonstrates expert clinical, communication, and teaching skills.
Ability to manage administrative responsibilities and to work independently.
Will acquire Certification by the Association for Vascular Access (VA-BC) within 2 to 3 years of hire.
Must be able to work rotating shifts.
