Position Name: PACU Registered Nurse (RN)
Available Shifts:
Mixed 10-hour Shifts (Shifts vary from: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM, 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM)
On Call Requirement: Must live within a 30-minute radius from the facility to fulfill on-call duties.
Position Summary:
As a PACU Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for the immediate post-operative care of surgical patients, ensuring that they stabilize and recover safely following anesthesia. You will provide airway management, closely monitor neurological and cardiac status, and respond promptly to any complications or side effects. This role requires on-call availability during select non-business hours, details of which will be discussed during the interview process.
What You'll Do:
Patient-Centered Care: Deliver high-quality care by managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborative Team Member: Be a key part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with providers, therapy staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Critical Thinking: Apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, and technical judgment to safely deliver nursing care.
Patient Monitoring: Assess patient conditions, monitor throughout shifts, document any changes, and ensure accurate care records.
Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and caregivers on the patient's condition, treatment plan, and follow-up care.
What We're Looking For:
Experience: Must have 1 year of recent acute care PACU RN experience (facility strongly prefers critical care experience in addition to PACU experience).
Licensing & Certifications:
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Instructor certification required within 30 days of employment.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor certification required within 60 days of employment.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor certification required within 60 days of employment.
Registered Nurse Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) qualification is a plus.
Skills: Strong communication and critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to providing safe, compassionate care.
