Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, dispenses medication, exercising professional judgment in response to a provider’s prescription according to government regulations to ensure the appropriate drug therapy for optimal patient care; counsels, assists, and educates physician's/provider's, nurses, and patients on appropriate medication doses, uses, side effects, cautions, and drug purposes. Supervises Pharmacy Technicians to maintain good order and flow of workload. Prepares sterile admixtures and hazardous chemotherapy drugs following USP 797, USP 800, and DRH policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
Education and/or Experience: Must have completed a B.S. or Pharm.D. pharmacy degree at an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy. Previous hospital pharmacy experienced strongly preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Active Doctor of Pharmacy license from the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy in good standing. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
