Primary Purpose

The Physician is responsible for delivering comprehensive, evidence-based healthcare to patients. This includes identifying medical problems, obtaining and evaluating medical histories, addressing psychosocial concerns and health determinants, performing relevant physical examinations, conducting medical assessments, and managing both acute and chronic conditions. The physician also recommends and administers appropriate screenings and health maintenance measures to promote optimal health, minimize complications, and support timely recovery.

Education

  • Must have completed a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Medical Association (AMA) in an appropriate specialty.

Licensure/Certification

  • Must hold a current license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
  • Must meet and maintain all licensing, registration, and credentialing requirements as outlined in the Parkland Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies/Procedures.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must demonstrate knowledge and clinical expertise in the designated specialty (e.g., Psychiatry, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Jail Health).
  • Must possess the ability to set priorities, determine objectives, and meet established deadlines.
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and act as a resource for patients and the broader community.
  • Must consistently demonstrate patient-centered and value-based behavior in all interactions.

1. Patient Care

  • Obtain and document accurate and essential patient information.
  • Make informed, evidence-based decisions regarding diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, incorporating patient preferences.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust patient care plans as needed.
  • Provide care both in-person and through virtual modalities (including audio-video or audio-only consultations) in alignment with clinical guidelines.
  • Educate patients and families about health promotion, acute illness management, and chronic disease self-management.
  • Collaborate with internal and external healthcare providers, including community organizations, to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.

  • Demonstrate effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic, ethical, and professional relationships.
