Description

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive orthopedic care in a high-volume outpatient clinic setting under the supervision of Dr. Liu. This position is primarily clinic-based and requires a provider who can work independently while managing a full patient schedule five days per week.

Responsibilities include evaluating and treating orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, reviewing and interpreting X-rays, developing treatment plans, performing injections and procedures within scope of practice, and coordinating patient care. The ideal candidate is confident, clinically autonomous, and comfortable making independent decisions while collaborating with the supervising physician as needed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Manage a full clinic schedule five days per week.
  • Obtain and document comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic testing, including musculoskeletal X-rays.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician when appropriate.
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, post-procedure care, and rehabilitation plans.
  • Perform in-office procedures within scope of practice, including injections, aspirations, splinting, casting, and other orthopedic interventions.
  • Determine when surgical consultation, additional imaging, or specialist referral is warranted.
  • Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, imaging staff, and clinical support teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction standards established by the practice.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and professional development.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE:

  • Current Florida Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license.
  • NCCPA certification required for Physician Assistants.
  • ANCC or AANP certification required for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Current BLS certification required.
Requirements

EDUCATION:

Physician Assistant:
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• NCCPA certification required.

Nurse Practitioner:
• Master's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current Florida APRN license.

• National certification through ANCC or AANP. 


EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of orthopedic, sports medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, or related musculoskeletal experience preferred.
  • Experience independently managing patient visits in a clinic setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience interpreting musculoskeletal X-rays is required.
  • Prior orthopedic clinic experience preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment.
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Ability to interpret musculoskeletal radiographs (X-rays).
  • Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Comfortable managing a high-volume outpatient clinic schedule.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to exceptional patient care.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform fine hand manipulation and computer-based documentation.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands associated with providing direct patient care  
  • Travel may be required to existing or new TOI locations.
